L'Oréal Colour Riche Mono Eye Shadows

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Before we start this post, let's rewind back two years to late Spring 2014 when L'Oréal launched beautiful individual eyeshadows in the UK and not in the US. The makeup envy got so bad that after a few months of seeing them blast through the british beauty community, I flew all the way to England just to get them! (I'm joking I was there on vacation but it was rather convenient timing!) Anyway, I have been waiting almost two years for L'Oréal to launch the Colour Riche Mono Eye Shadows in the US and they are finally here! The moment I heard of the launch I ran to three different stores to find them and when I finally located them in the Target beauty isle I literally did a silent scream. I think the combination of anticipation, waiting for what seemed like forever, and coming to terms that these eyeshadows might forever remain across the pond was what made this launch so much more exciting!

Here are the four shades I picked up:

203 Café Au Lait: This is a medium brown taupe with a matte finish. It's the perfect transition eyshadow shade for in the crease of the eyelid or it can be worn on its own for a more natural eye look.

214 Meet Me In Paris: This is a smoky medium blue grey with a matte finish. I'm not going to lie, I bought this one solely because of its name, but I also wanted to get a color that wasn't a neutral. This shade is the perfect alternative for the classic smoky eye that isn't a brown or a black. Also the experts say blue eye shadow is back in style!

204 Quartz Fumé: I have this shade name from the original versions I bought in England, but the colors are completely different. The original version is more of a metallic dark smokey brown where this one is a milk chocolate brown shade with a hint of shimmer and a satin finish. I do really like this color as well and think it will be beautiful to wear during the summer months.

207 Pain Au Chocolat: This is a light bronzy taupe with a metallic shimmer finish. Out of the four colors I bought, this one is my favorite. For being a drugstore eyeshadow its very pigmented and for being a shimmer it has only a little fallout. I will say after an eight hour work day it does crease a little bit, but that won't stop me from wearing it.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with these eyeshadows, but I do still favor my original three I got in England. I just feel that in a way the formula and colors are slightly better, which does make me sad. I also like the original all gold packaging over the black with just one corner gold, but now I'm just being picky. Lets just hope that L'Oréal will integrate the formulas and colors from the original UK line to the US soon. If you want to read more about the ones I bought in England I featured them in my August 2014 favorites post which I will link here

A special thank you to my helper Oliver for only jumping on the eyeshadows once while I was photographing them!
