August Beauty Favorites

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

Well, August is coming to an end and it's hard to believe that autumn is just around the corner.
I thought that I'd share with you some of my beauty favorites from this past month. I chose these specific products because they really stood out to me to the point that I would always find myself reaching for them during my daily beauty routine. Some of these products I have used before, but many have been newly added to my collection.

I'm going to go on the record and say that this is my absolute favorite foundation ever! I purchased it at the duty free shop before my trip to the UK. The thing that I love about this foundation is that it is a medium coverage foundation that can be built up to full coverage. It is described as an in between foundation in that it does not have a dewy or matte finish, but instead gives off a nice velvet texture. I have combination skin and I feel that it sits nicely on the skin and wears well throughout the day without showing signs of wear. Another great thing about this foundation is that the littlest amount goes a long way. Although this foundation is in the higher price range, you definitely get your money's worth. This product absolutely lives up to the Chanel name and is a definite splurge I'm glad I made.

During these hot summer months, a setting spray is an absolute must to hold your makeup in place and prevent it from wearing off throughout the day. This is a product that should be a part of everyones daily makeup routine year round because it allows your makeup to hold from morning till night. I've tried a few setting sprays and I think that the Urban Decay brand really does the best job at setting your makeup onto your face. It is a light and fine mist that doesn't go on sticky, so it really is a refreshing final touch to your makeup

Now i'll admit it, I'm a mascara junkie and have tried way too many because I'm on the never ending hunt for the perfect mascara. To me, mascara is the one thing that I would choose if I had to only wear one product. I love it because there are just so many choices of brands, both high end and affordable. After trying the Miss Manga Mascara, I can say that it really competes well with the higher end mascara products. It gives both volume and length and its unique wand helps cover every single one of your lashes to give you the perfect doll eye look.

Revlon has really become a staple brand of lip products for me this past summer, and everyone should try their Colorstay Moisture Stains. This is a combination lip product that is both a lip gloss and a stain. It is the perfect lip product because it has the lasting power of a stain but also the glossiness of a lip gloss with also great pigmentation. I own four shades of this particular product but LA Exclusive has been my absolute favorite and the most worn color over this past month. I love that this color is a pink that is not too bright, but instead is a more wearable color that really goes with everything.

I have never tried to hunt down a nail polish as much as I have hunted down this one. It took multiple trips to many different stores in many different cities to find it and when I did I was so happy. It's a perfect shade of an in-between pink and purple that is excellent for the summer. Its also long lasting and doesn't chip easily, which, for anyone that has ever worn nail posh, is a must! I have probably worn this nail polish almost everyday in August.

While I was in London this past summer I stopped by the local drugstore Boots and picked up these really great eyeshadows. They have yet to be launched in the US, but when they do I would highly recommend them. They are the best drugstore eyeshadows that I have tried and are comparable to the higher end more expensive brands. They are super pigmented and they have a buttery consistency which makes them go on the eyelid really smoothly. They wear well throughout the day and they don't crease which makes them the perfect eyeshadow for any of you eyeshadow enthusiasts out there! I have three in total, the two pictured above are Cafe Saint Germain and Quartz Fume. The third is Golden Nude, which is my favorite of the three, but sadly it didn't travel well back from the UK but is still usable. I can't wait for these to be launched in the US and I hope you are too!

As you have read above, I'm already a huge fan of Revlon's lip products, especially their chubby crayons, so when they came out with the matte balms I was a little hesitant because I struggle with having dry lips. Sometimes matte lip products don't work as well on me. However, this product does not dry out my lips and lasted surprisingly really well. I love this specific color, Elusive because it is a neutral pink that goes with everything. This was one product that you could have found in my purse for the whole month of August.

This has been my staple fragrance for the past two months, and yes it was influenced a bit by my trip to the UK. The fragrance is a combination of a little bit floral and a little bit sweet. It has been the one fragrance that I reach for when I'm getting ready in the morning. I find that the scent lasts well throughout the day, and leaves me with fond memories of London.

Are any of these products your favorites too? What have you been loving this month?
