A few times a week, after a long day, I like to treat myself to a relaxing bath or just a simple face mask. Face masks are my favorite part of my skincare routine; they're enjoyable to do, but they are also an important step in any skincare routine. When I'm deciding which face mask to use, I often treat my choice in the same way with how I would pick my outfit for the day. It all depends on how I feel that day, how much time I have and on the condition of my skin. But that's what is great about face masks! There are so many different ones to choose from for all kinds of skin types! With having so many different face masks to choose from, I'm sure you're thinking: Where do I start? Well, I have chosen a few of my favorites to share with you below.
My two favorite masks are from Origins. The first one is The Clear Improvement mask which I use at least twice a week. It uses active charcoal to clear pores, but also minimizes oil and reduces acne. The second one is the Drink Up Intensive mask. It works overnight to hydrate and revive dull skin. After washing my face at night, I put on this mask, go to sleep and then when I wake up I wash it off. If you're concerned about wearing a mask overnight don't worry, it's a clear mask so it won't leave any strange colors on your pillow.
If you prefer something more organic, then I recommend Michael Todd True Organics. I first tried their Kaolin Clay mask and feel in love. It is the face mask that I have repurchased the most (I'm currently on my third bottle). It is a detoxifying face mask, which means it works to pull the impurities out of your skin. One way I like to use it, and how I would recommend, is using it as a spot treatment overnight to clear acne. After loving my first Michael Todd mask, I tried the Avocado and Mango mask. What I find I enjoy most about this mask is that it looks and feels as if someone has mixed the avocado and mango together right then and there. This mask makes my skin feel fresh and clean, but most importantly it hydrates the skin; I use it regularly to keep my skin from dehydrating.
While I was in London this past summer I purchased two new face masks that are exclusive to the UK. The first one I picked up is the Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox mask. I had never tried anything like this mask before. This mask is self heating (yes you read that right), which means once you rub it on your skin it heats up. Don't worry, it doesn't get too hot and doesn't stay warm for too long. This mask is said to be a deep cleansing facial, and I found that it really makes my face feel clean and purified. The other mask I picked up while in London was from Soap & Glory called the No Clogs Allowed mask. This mask is similar to the Sanctuary Spa mask in that it is self heating. I use this mask on nights when I don't have as much time. I feel that this one is more of a gentle exfoliator than the previous mask. I envy everyone who lives in the UK because you can get your hands on these two face masks a lot easier than in America.
Finally, Lush. Lush is my favorite store for anything bath, body or skincare related. I think that this store is totally unique and there is nothing else out there like it. These are three of my favorite mask I've tried. First, the infamous Cupcake mask. It took multiple trips to Lush before I could finally get my hands on this mask and I can honestly say it lives up to its hype. This is Lush's most popular mask because it is a good all around mask that anyone can try (and it helps that it smells like a chocolate cupcake). As much as I love the Cupcake mask, I would say the BB Seaweed mask is my favorite from Lush. This mask really smooths out your skin from the chunks of seaweed in the mask, and when you take it off the seaweed exfoliates your skin to a soft texture. Lastly, I would like to thank my friend Morgan for getting me hooked on the Mask of Magnaminty. This mask is a cleanser, exfoliator and mask all in one. It is a good and simple all around product that is perfect for those first time mask users.
Now tell me, what are your favorite face masks to use?
