The Secret Weapon: Lip Liner

My secret weapon when it comes to makeup is lip liner. I know what you're thinking, lip liner is for old ladies. Well, you're wrong it's not and I'm going to tell you why. I am a lip product junkie, but I especially love to rock a bold lip. The hardest thing about wearing a bold lip is making it look clean, but that's where lip liner steps in. Lip liner creates both a barrier and a base for your lipstick. It can be used to prevent bleeding, prolong fading, and to mix up the color of a lipstick. Starting to wear lip liner a couple years ago completely changed up my lip game and I'm going to share with you some of my favorites!

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob
Eastend Snob by Rimmel is my only drugstore lip liner favorite. I've just had so much trouble finding good drugstore lip liner, but this one is definitely the best drugstore lip liner I've tried. The Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner line is a twist up which I love because it means no sharpening! (Nobody got time to sharpen lip liner) The color is a soft pinky mauve and I love to pair it with my all time favorite lipstick MAC Syrup.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillowtalk
This lip liner is a cult favorite because it's the perfect nude "your lips but better" shade. Pillowtalk is my most used lip liner because I use it almost everyday to just define my lip shape for whatever color lip product I'm wearing. There isn't a specific lip product I love to pair this lip liner with because I wear it with practically everything!

MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Burgundy
As you can probably tell, I love MAC lip pencils! Four of my favorite lip liners come from MAC Cosmetics and that's because they're the best. MAC lip pencils are hands down my holy grail lip liners. They're creamy, easy to work with, perfectly pigmented, and once they're on they don't budge. Burgundy is a beautiful red brownish plum that's perfect for a vampy style lip. I love to pair this lip liner with the Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Divine Wine.

MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Soar
I feel like everyone and their mother has this lip pencil or at least wants to purchase it. Listen to me, Kylie Jenner was right, you need the MAC Soar lip pencil in your life! I feel like Soar looks like a boring mauve color lip liner but it's truly unique. It has this dusty grayness to it that adds so much dimension and wearability, especially during the autumn months. I love to pair this lip liner with the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna.

MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Cherry
MAC Cherry is such an iconic lip pencil color because it is the perfect red lip liner and goes well under any red lipstick. Red lipstick is the hardest lipstick to pull off without a lip liner and Cherry makes wearing a red lip effortless. If you buy just one of these lip liners, buy MAC Cherry. I love to pair this lip pencil with the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella.

MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Nightmoth
Nightmoth will be my go to lip liner all fall and winter because there is nothing I love more then wearing a berry lip. Don't let the color of this lip pencil scare you because I know it used to scare me. Nightmoth seems like a totally unwearable dark lip liner shade, but it's not. The color is a blackened plum and can be worn with many different berry shades. I love to pair this lip pencil with the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet.
