So I Went Shopping...

Monday, July 13, 2015

If you didn't guess from the title of this post, I went shopping recently and thought I'd share with you the items I picked up. On my little shopping excursion I went to Sephora, MAC, Bath & Body Works, and then finally Ulta. Now I love to shop for beauty products, but I'm one of those people that if I don't make a list of things that I really need, then I'll walk out buying the entire store. My list was filled with some new products that I've been wanting to try, some products that I was needing to repurchase, and a few travel sized items for my upcoming vacation. You could say I was basically on a mission and the first stop was at Sephora.

Sephora is my favorite store. I could walk around for hours swatching every lip color on the back of my hand and rummaging through the what I like to call "the isle of doom" where they keep all the minis that are so cute (and you obviously need) that you buy them. I had a few things on my list, but restrained myself to only buying three. First, I'm almost out of my favorite mascara and since I'll be going on vacation soon I wanted to have a back up just in case, so I grabbed the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I have talked about my love for this mascara before so instead rambling some more, I'll link a post where you can read all about it here. Another thing I'm running low on is my Hourglass brow pencil so I knew I needed to pick one up, but when I got to Sephora I decided I wanted to try something a bit different. I've always been curious about the hype around the Anastasia Brow Wiz, so I went for it and got the color medium brown. I'll definitely let you know how it compares to other brow products I've tried in an upcoming post. Lastly at Sephora I gave into the pressure of the internet and finally purchased the NARS Radiant Concealer in Vanilla. I absolutely can't wait to try this concealer and considering I grabbed the last one, I'm sure it will live up to hype.

My next stop on my shopping excursion was Bath & Body Works. Coming in at a close second behind Sephora, Bath & Body Works is one of my favorite stores. I have a cabinet at my house that is just full of Bath & Body Works products that I will probably never fully use, but it makes happy so I don't care. I was really only in Bath & Body Works for one reason, to pick up the limited edition Shark Week antibacterial hand gel... and yes I did watch pretty much every second of Shark Week on Discovery Channel. Then my mom handed me a coupon she had for a free travel sized item and I thought this is perfect! I am going on vacation very soon and could use a travel sized shower gel, so I picked out the scent in Paris Amour which I already have in the full size (remember in my stash) and so I knew I'd love it! Overall it was a successful Bath & Body Works trip considering I walk out with only two items instead of the usual twenty.

The shortest stop on my trip was at MAC. Now I'm just going to say it, I hate shopping at MAC. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love their products but I prefer to order MAC online because I just always have terrible experiences shopping in the store and as you guessed it, this was one of those terrible experiences. Firstly, I hate that I have to get a sales associate to help me while shopping. I wish I could just grab the things I need, walk to the counter, and purchases everything. But because of theft reasons, which I completely understand, I have to track down an associate. I have the worst luck with MAC employees. I could write an entire post about my terrible experiences with MAC employees, which now that I think about it maybe I will someday. Basically the short version for this particular trip was that the girl helping me was so busy with another customer and argued with me that one of the lipsticks I wanted was MAC Pro only (which it's not I checked) that she had to get another employee to help me. All I wanted was two lipsticks and a lip liner. As you can tell from the photo above, I only walked out with one item, a back up of my favorite MAC Lipstick in Syrup. From now on, I will just continue to buy MAC online and avoid the store at all costs.

Last stop on my shopping trip was to Ulta. Since I'll be going on vacation soon, I wanted to pick up a travel sized version of the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray since the full size is really big and bulky. This is my favorite makeup setting spray to help my makeup last all day, especially in warmer climates. My last purchase of the day was the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I had the Beauty Blender about two years ago, didn't get much use out of it, somehow lost it and didn't want to purchase another one. When I saw that Real Techniques came out with their own version of the Beauty Blender that was much more reasonably priced I knew I wanted to try it eventually. So while at Ulta I decided I'd give it a go with the hope it will end up in one of my monthly favorites one day.

Overall, I would say I had a successful shopping trip!
