A Year Without Soda

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

If you met me a few years ago, one of the first things you would have noticed was my unhealthy addiction to soda, particularly Dr. Pepper. I would drink multiple cans of soda throughout the day and night. If I didn't drink soda, I would get irritable and often start to shake. Well, last year on February 1, 2014 I vowed to not drink soda for an entire year for both personal and health reasons. The challenge of not drinking soda was hard at first, but like most things it got easier with time. I also had many cravings throughout the year like most addictions, especially during hot summer days, but I just kept concentrating on why I was doing this. On this past Sunday February 1, 2015 I couldn't believe that I had made it a whole year without drinking something that I felt I couldn't live without at some point. If you are struggling to break a habit or to accomplish something difficult in your life, I want to give you a few tips. Firstly, always know that you are in control and that you choose if you will accomplish your goal. Also, tell people so you will have friends and family to help motivate you and hold you accountable. Lastly, keep thinking about how great it will feel once you've accomplished your goal! A lot can really happen in a year, and I believe that a year can sometimes change a person's life, no matter how small the change. Let me know in the comments if you have ever decided to change something in your life, whether it be to break a habit or accomplish a new goal.
