Battle of the Brands: Cleansing Oils

Sunday, October 4, 2015

After discovering cleansing oils a few years ago, they quickly became a staple in my skincare routine. I don't know how I ever got off all of my eye makeup before using cleansing oils! If you've never used a cleansing oil before you basically put a few pumps in you hands and gently rub the product onto your dry eyes and face. The oil breaks up all your make up after a few minutes, then you add water and wipe it all away. The result is truly magical and no more struggling to get off mascara or waterproof makeup. Recently, I've been testing out a few cleansing oils to see which one I truly believe is the best based on amount, price, and overall results. So without further ado, let the Battle of the Brands: Cleansing Oils edition begin!

I love The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. It smells absolutely divine and does such a good job taking off almost 100% of my eye makeup. This cleansing oil comes with 200 milliliters of product, which is the most out of the three and is a huge plus because that generally means it will last longer. Also, because The Body Shop is more budget friendly, it only costs $19.00 and can be found on offer for buy one get one free a lot of the time. One of the problems is that getting ahold of The Body Shop products is not exactly easy in the United States. There are a few Body Shop stores around and they do sell some of their products at Ulta. Other then that you have to order it online, which is what I have to do. Overall though, this is a great cleansing oil and a good one for people who have never used a cleansing oil.

The Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil is such a cult favorite in the beauty community. Everyone that tries it loves it including me. It takes off you eye makeup so easily, even waterproof makeup, and a huge plus is that its travel friendly because the pump has a stopper. I do find that I sometimes have to use the oil twice to get all of my eye makeup off, especially my mascara. This cleansing oil only comes with 150 milliliters of product, but I still find that it lasts a long time. A downside is that because it is a bit more high end it costs $30.00 but its super easy to get ahold of because its available at all Sephoras. Overall, this product is a cult favorite for a reason and its because it works.

The MAC Cleanse Off Oil was the first cleansing oil I ever tried and from that point on I couldn't live without using a cleansing oil in my skincare routine. This cleansing oil does one of the best jobs of getting off your eye makeup but one of the things I hate is that it really stings my eyes and makes them cloudy for a few minutes after I've used it. Even though it only comes with 150 milliliters of product, I find that a little of it goes a long ways. A downside is that it is the most expensive out of the three at $31.00 but I believe that sometimes you have to pay for good quality products. Overall, the MAC Cleanse Off Oil is a great cleansing oil.

And the winner of the battle of the brands is... The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil! It was a close call between that and the Boscia one but the price was really what put The Body Shop over the edge. If you're looking for the perfect cleansing oil, then I recommend The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil!
