Shows That Never Get Old

Thursday, September 17, 2015

Everyone has those shows that they watch over and over again, whether for sheer enjoyment, to have on in the background or to help you fall sleep. Here are some of my favorite shows to watch over and over again because to me they just never get old.

Friends
Where do I even start with this show. I feel like its super cliché to put Friends on this list, but for me it's not. I fall asleep watching Friends every night because the show just relaxes me. I have watched Friends since the 90s with my mom. I vividly remember watching Ross saying Rachel's name at the alter instead of Emily's and who could ever forget when the gang went to Vegas. Some of my favorite episodes are The One Where No One's Ready, The One with the Embryos, and of course all of the Thanksgiving episodes! The episodes of Friends are apart of the timeline of my life. The day Friends aired their final episode on May 6, 2004 is a day I will never forget. It was the true end of an era. Just the other day when cleaning out boxes in my house we found the VHS that I taped the final episode on. It was so neat to find and trust me even though it's a VHS tape of an episode I have on DVD, I will keep it forever. Friends will always be one of my favorite shows because I always know that no matter what, Friends will be here for me.

That '70s Show
Words cannot even describe how much I love That '70s Show. It's my second favorite show of all time right behind Friends. The characters are so unique but they're still relatable and even though the show is set in the 70s, you can relate to pretty much everything that goes on. If there's one show on this list I would highly recommend you watching if you haven't, it would be That '70s Show! Some of my favorite episodes are First Date, Eric's Panties, Dine & Dash, Canadian Road Trip, Over the Hills and Far Away, Substitute, and of course That '70s Finale! I know that's a lot of favorite episodes but it was so hard to narrow it down! Lastly I just want to say that the fact that Kelso and Jackie (aka Ashton and Mila) ended up together in real life makes me believe that our fandom wins!

Grey's Anatomy
11 seasons and 11 years of Grey's Anatomy, and I still can't let go. I have rewatched the entire series from start to finish so many times over the years because I just loved it that much. Like real life, people in this show come and go, tough decisions have to be made, and real feelings are felt for every character. I think that's what makes Grey's Anatomy so great, because through all the over the top television drama, there is this underlying realness to the world they all live in that teaches you lessons about life, love, and loss. I will never stop loving Grey's Anatomy and will always continue to rewatch the series.

The Big Bang Theory
I love The Big Bang Theory! If Sheldon and Penny had a secret love child it would be me, which I know is funny because Sheldon and Penny are complete opposites. I'm neurotic and a little different like Sheldon, but I'm very kind hearted and still don't have my life quite put together like Penny. I am such a huge fan of the show and care probably a little too much about the characters. My two all time favorite episodes are The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis and The Adhesive Duck Deficiency. If you've watched the show before and recognize those episodes you would know that those two episodes have story lines that revolve around Sheldon and Penny. They're my two favorite characters and like I said before they're the ones I relate to the most and anytime the show revolves around the two of them interacting, I just know I'm going to love it!

The Office
I truly believe that The Office will continue to go down in history as one of the greatest television comedies of our lifetime. The Fire, Stress Relief, Cafe Disco, Niagara, Threat Level Midnight, and all the Halloween and Christmas episodes are my favorites! The characters on this show were so real that you felt like you knew someone like them in your everyday life, but at the same time they were so unique from any other character that had ever been on television before. Jim and Pam will always be my relationship goals and Michael Scott with forever be the world's greatest boss. There will always be a special place in my heart for The Office.

Parks and Recreation
Leslie Knope is my spirit animal. She believes in the good of people and always fights for what she believes in, no matter how silly it may seem to others. This show was cast perfectly. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing any of the characters other then the original actors. Even recurring secondary characters like Jean-Ralphio and Tammy Two. Some of my favorite episodes are Flu Season, Greg Pikitis, and of course all of the episodes with or about Lil Sebastian! Even though Parks and Recreation ended earlier this year, I know that I will continue to rewatch it for the rest of my life.
