Fall Trend Alert: Matte Lips

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Matte lips have been my favorite trend this month, but it's so hard to find a drugstore brand with decent matte lip products that won't dry out your lips. I already have fairly dry lips to begin with, so sometimes it's hard for me to find a matte lipstick that works well for me. This past month Maybelline launched their new Creamy Matte Lipsticks and I was curious to see how well they lived up to their name. So I went on a mission, purchased five shades, and put them to the test. Now, I can truly say that these are the best matte lipsticks offered at the drugstore. The formula is creamy and dries matte, but it still feels hydrating on the lips. I would highly recommend this product to anyone because they come in a good assortment of colors that range from day use to bold statement lips. You can easily purchase these at Ulta, CVS, Walgreens or any local drugstore, but I find that they are cheapest at Target, where I purchased all of mine.

                           Touch of Spice

This lip color a pink brown shade that is perfect if you're trying to emulate the same look people rocked in the 90's. Someone who has been using a shade often like this is Kylie Jenner. I would say A Touch of Spice is the perfect dupe for what she has been wearing, which is said to be the MAC Lip Pencil in Soar.

This shade is a blush toned pink with more of a natural look that can be worn for everyday use or be paired with a strong smokey eye. This color is definitely my favorite and most worn shade out of all the ones that I have bought.

If I could wear this color everyday I would! This is a bold (but not too bright) rosy pink shade with a purple undertone. It's like a toned down and more wearable Barbie pink. What's great about colors like this is that they can be worn all year round. A lot of people might be afraid to wear such a bright pink color in the fall or winter, but I say go for it!

This lipstick shade is a true magenta color. It's the color you can wear during the fall or winter when you still want to wear a bright and bold pink. I find that this color matches perfectly with a simple golden eye and lots of mascara!

If you're looking for that perfect vampy red brown color for the upcoming fall and winter seasons, then this is the lipstick for you! I like to wear this lipstick more soft as a berry stained lip, but you can still wear it more full on for a bold look. Divine Wine is another one of the colors that I picked as a homage to the 90s where deep lip colors were all the rage.
